Bagelmania

A huge winner with eight of those surveyed selecting it for the Bagel category (including freelance writer Matt Villano), one for Sandwiches (Las Vegas Advisor Publisher Anthony Curtis) and one for Deli (Review Journal restaurant writer Heidi Rinella), this old school delicatessen first opened in 1989 at its original location on East Twain. It moved last year to a larger 10,000-square-foot space adjacent to the new Las Vegas Convention Center expansion with an expansive dining room, private dining area, outdoor patio, to-go delicatessen, bakery and a full bar with gaming.

The enormous menu includes bagels and schmears; sandwiches like the Reuben Seigel with choice of corned beef, pastrami or turkey plus melted Swiss, sauerkraut and Russian dressing on grilled rye; breakfast items like matzo brei with scrambled eggs and matzo served with warm maple syrup or sour cream; burgers like the Gambler with sautéed mushrooms & onions, melted Swiss, crispy bacon & horseradish aioli; and sweets such as banana bread pudding with caramel sauce, caramelized banana, whipped cream and cinnamon.

Can't decide? Local journalist Jonathan Scott singles out the Goodman (pastrami, melted Swiss, coleslaw & Russian dressing on grilled rye) and the Authentic Philly as two of his favorites.
