New York Bagel N Bakery

$

The Montesano family, longtime Southern Nevada restaurateurs who most recently had Montesano’s Italian Eateria, have both branched out and returned to their roots with this New York-style deli.

Neon Feast contributor and executive-chef consultant Carla V. Pellegrino likes it because the bagels are always fresh and take her back to New York with their authenticity. A dozen is 14 here, and they’re in 12 classic varieties: plain, egg, cinnamon-raisin, cheddar, French toast, wheat, pretzel, poppy seed, sesame, garlic, onion and everything, plus bialys. Cream cheese flavors include the ever-popular scallion, lox, strawberry, honey-walnut, vegetables, jalapeno and garlic-herb.

You can get bagels in breakfast varieties (meats include Taylor ham) or with deli meat or salad, or opt for a House or Piled High sandwich on house-baked bread.

And of course there are plenty of desserts beloved in the Big Apple, such as cream cheese cookies, black and white and rainbow cookies, Brownie Overload, Linzer tarts, tiramisu and rugelach and New York-style, Nutella, chocolate chip and limoncello-mascarpone cheesecake, as well as rye, wheat and challah bread.
