Cupkates

“Happiness is just a cupcake away,” say siblings Kate Anyanwu and Will Thompson, co-owners of the company Kate founded right out of college.

Cupcakes and mini-cupcakes are their main focus, and customers can get them decorated with their own company logo. They also offer cupcake cakes that serve up to 10 people (in vanilla bean, chocolate Lab, red velvet and snickerdoodle), cake pops, custom cakes and sugar cookies.

But one of the most fun facets of this business is the tea parties Cupkates offers in its Tivoli Village tearoom. Especially tailored to little girls (although bigger ones would no doubt be welcome), they range from 45 to 90 minutes. All of the parties include dress-up sessions, a craft and a princess parade, plus cupcakes to decorate (one to take home) and -- wait for it -- pink glitter tea. The longer sessions include lunch and a freeze dance, to give the kids a chance to show off those princess gowns.
