Nellie's Southern Kitchen

It would be easy to write off Nellie's Southern Kitchen as a celebrity vanity project, but the Jonas Brothers' restaurant is more than meets the eye at the MGM Grand. Vegas Revealed co-host Dana Roselli is among those who praise the menu for its Southern-style comfort food, a category that's relatively underrepresented on the Strip.

Much of the food is based on family recipes (with the name inspired by the pop trio's own great-grandmother), including shrimp and grits, fried catfish, and fluffy biscuits, served in a basket with honey butter and jam. The restaurant's signature chicken and dumplings arrive at the table on a bed of mashed potatoes and collard greens. Wash it all down with house-made sweet tea, Southern-style cocktails or a bourbon flight.

The large fork and spoon on the front door is a nice touch, leading to a dining room that mixes rustic farm decor with chandeliers, artwork and other contemporary furnishings. A wall featuring Jonas Brothers memorabilia is wisely tucked away in a corner, offering something for fans, while not focusing on the celebrity factor. A centralized lounge has a stage for live music and other special events.
