Windy City Beef N Dogs

$

In a city of expatriates, the locals are always looking for a taste of the place they called home before Las Vegas. Windy City is the answer for those Chicago transplants who want to relive their hometown culinary memories. The owner of this place hails from Chicago, but has lived in Las Vegas for decades. He decided over a decade ago that it was time to bring his food to Southern Nevada. He now has two locations in ‘burbs of Vegas, both worth a trip to taste a Chicago-style dog.

That dog starts with a Vienna Beef hot dog, dropped into a steamed poppy seed bun and “dragged through the garden” with a wonderful combination of toppings. If that’s not your ideal wiener, some of the other sandwiches include the Maxwell Street Polish and Chicago Italian beef (wet, dry or dipped).

Heidi Rinella (longtime Las Vegas Review-Journal restaurant writer) and Donald Contursi (President of Lip Smacking Foodie Tours) recommend this as a favorite spot for hot dogs.
